According to the SSB, the new contracts cover a wide range of projects concentrated under the “Steel Dome” framework. Gorgon explained that the decisions adopted during the meeting of the Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSIK) are now being systematically turned into contracts, and include the procurement of offensive weapons and air defense systems.

In this framework, the companies Roketsan and Aselsan will advance short- and long-range air defense systems that have already been deployed in the past, and at the same time will develop improved versions of offensive systems. Gorgon noted that the companies are working “around the clock” to improve the strength of the existing systems and increase the army’s deterrence.

In addition, Gorgon emphasized the importance of the layered and independent air defense doctrine embodied in the “Steel Dome” concept. According to him, Turkey now produces itself both the software and the hardware for integrated systems capable of operating on a unified network.
