Vardapetats class urges “not to be tempted and not to be grieved by persecutions, not to be alienated”

The Vardapetats class of Mother See Etchmiadzin Congregation reaffirms its vow, remaining faithful to Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

In the statement released by the Mother See, the Masters tell the priests and believers of the church not to be tempted and grieved by “the slanders and persecutions of the clergy, not to be alienated from the spiritual life of the Mother Church.”

“In this period full of experiences, we expect your participation in the prayer and counseling life of the church,” their statement said.

The Vardapetats class considers “interferences and threats of secular authorities” in the internal management of the church unacceptable, stressing that the problems arising within the AAP are exclusively solved by the canonical procedures of the church, “unanimously and unanimously”, without usurping the rights of clergy and competent congregational bodies.

Due to the absence of some of the bishops and archbishops who met with the Prime Minister yesterday, the meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council failed today. The information system of the Mother See then announced that they condemn that attitude, but call on the church members to return to the canonical field, to express their concerns within the church, not to disrupt the unity of the church.

In a statement leaked yesterday, nine out of 13 high-ranking clerics called the Catholicos of All Armenians a “patron of sacrilege”, calling on other bishops to join the task of cleansing the Holy Etchmiadzin Mother See of “unholy clergy” and those who share her sin. The high-ranking clergy described the behavior of Garegin the Second as incompatible with the rules of the Armenian Church.

The basis of the statement was the obscene video attributed to Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, diplomat of the Mother See, in which, as the Investigative Committee reported today, it was confirmed by expert examination that it was the archbishop.
