Former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Ratney spoke in an interview with i24news about the normalization of relations between Riyadh and Jerusalem.
Speaking about the Abraham Accords, Ratney said that Saudi Arabia is interested in a complete end to the war in Gaza, and Prince Mohammad bin Salman wants to see a change in Israeli policy on the Palestinian issue. Therefore, according to Ratney, the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel will not happen soon, perhaps “not even under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
Ratney also said that negotiations on the normalization of relations were close to success before October 7, but “Black Saturday confused all the cards.”
