Netanyahu appealed to the President of Israel for forgiveness

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted an official request for pardon to President Isaac Herzog, according to Reuters, the office of the President of Israel announced.

“The President’s office realizes that this is an extraordinary request that carries significant consequences. After receiving all relevant opinions, the president will consider the request,” Herzog’s office said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump sent a letter to the President of Israel, urging him to discuss the issue of pardoning Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Three criminal cases have been initiated against Netanyahu since 2019, including the accusation of receiving gifts of about 210 thousand dollars from businessmen. He pleads not guilty.
