The reading castle is a colorful, inviting reading place where children can dream away in stories, both during and outside class hours. “Both the teaching team and the management are delighted with this initiative,” says teacher Saskia Desmet. “Our colleague master Hans, third grade teacher, designed and realized the reading castle.”
Creative craftsmanship
“With his creativity and craftsmanship, master Hans created a real eye-catcher on the playground,” says Desmet. “The entire school team thanks him for his efforts and enthusiasm.”
During the Reading Week, the reading buddies provided enjoyable reading moments during the afternoon. “The students visibly enjoyed the stories and the warm atmosphere that accompanied them,” says Desmet.
Young librarian
In addition, Renée Van De Sijpe from the fifth grade is taking on the task of school librarian with great dedication this school year. “She helps organize the books, supports lending and encourages other students to find just that one book that can touch them,” says Saskia Desmet.
With the opening of the reading castle and the great efforts of students and teachers, the school is aiming for a year full of reading fun. It was a wonderful start to many wonderful reading moments in the classroom and on the playground. In this way, Het Groene Lilare Zegelsem continues to build on a warm reading culture, in which stories connect, inspire and make people dream.
