Egypt rejected Israel’s proposals; Zini’s meeting with his colleague did not bring results

Shin Bet chief David Zini met in Cairo with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip and a number of other issues. This is David Zini’s first state visit as head of the General Security Service.

According to Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Akhbar, the meeting ended without tangible results, with Egypt opposing Israel’s Gaza reconstruction plan exclusively in Israeli-controlled areas south of Gaza City.

Rashad, during his meeting with Zini, also expressed Cairo’s objections to the creation of an international stabilization force in the Gaza Strip, demanding guarantees of a complete cessation of Israeli attacks. Egypt also conveyed Hamas’s refusal to disarm in any form.
