The US State Department reported that Iran executed at least 260 people in November 2025, the highest number in two decades. Iranian authorities have officially announced the execution of two death sentences.
“More than 1,500 people have been killed in Iran since the beginning of the year, many without due process. The Islamic Republic is using the death penalty to intimidate and silence all dissent,” the State Department page reported in Farsi, as quoted by the Iranian opposition website Iran International.
The US has also called the death of Iranian human rights lawyer Khosrow Alicordi, who was found dead several days ago, suspicious. Opponents of the regime are convinced that the Iranian authorities are responsible for the death of the former political prisoner.
