The Council of the EU agreed a temporary fixed customs duty of 3 euros on small parcels who enter the Union, mainly via e-commerce, starting from July 1, 2026. We learn this from EU sources. The duty will remain in place until the agreement on a permanent solution to eliminate the duty-free threshold comes into force.

Why this measure

The temporary measure is adopted because currently these parcels enter the EU, duty-freeresulting in “unfair competition for EU sellersrisks to consumer health and safety, high levels of fraud and environmental concerns.” The measure will remain in place until the permanent arrangement for these parcels, agreed in November 2025, comes into force.
