Iran has arrested 18 crew members of a tanker detained in the Gulf of Oman

Iranian media reported that 18 crew members of the tanker detained on Friday, December 12, near the Gulf of Oman have been arrested. Tehran said the foreign tanker was carrying six million liters of “smuggled diesel fuel.”

Let us recall that on November 30, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the detention of a tanker with smuggled fuel in the Strait of Hormuz. The ship was flying the flag of Eswatini, formerly Swaziland.

On November 14, the IRGC seized the oil tanker Talara, which was traveling from the UAE to Singapore under the flag of the Marshall Islands. Iran claimed it was carrying unauthorized cargo. A few days later the tanker and its crew were freed.
