Putin’s ally dictator says he would give Maduro asylum

Lukashenko spoke about the situation in Venezuela in an interview with American broadcaster Newsmax.

“Maduro has never been an enemy or an adversary for us. If he wanted to come to Belarus, the doors would be open for him”, said the Belarusian leader, an ally of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin (who is Maduro’s ally).

“But, to be honest, this has never been discussed. Maduro is not the type of person to leave or run away. He is a tough guy,” Lukashenko explained.

Since the end of August, the government of US President Donald Trump has sent military vessels, including the world’s largest aircraft carrier, and fighter jets to the Caribbean Sea, near Venezuela, and the Pacific Ocean, near Colombia, for an operation that has so far resulted in 25 attacks on 26 vessels that it alleged have links to drug trafficking. At least 95 people were killed in these actions.

The Chavista regime considers that this operation aims to remove Maduro from power. In recent weeks, Trump has stated that this action will be expanded to include ground attacks in Venezuela. In an interview with the Politico website last week, the American president said that Maduro’s days are “numbered”.

Lukashenko told Newsmax that a ground operation in Venezuela could represent “a second Vietnam” for the United States.

“Do you need this? No. Therefore, there is no need to fight a war. You can reach an agreement”, said the dictator of Belarus.
