Rich company boss lands on ski slope with helicopter: “I was in a hurry”

Brescia (Italian) – How much does the world cost if it pleases you? For a wealthy top manager from Italy, it didn’t matter, because he simply landed his helicopter on the ski slope for a little fun in the snow! After all, queuing at the lift is only for normal people…

It’s just stupid that the whole operation is not only quite dangerous, but also strictly forbidden: the 66-year-old entrepreneur was taken out of circulation after the first departure. However, he is happy to pay the ridiculous fine of 2,000 euros, after all, it wasn’t the first time.

He got out and put on his skis

On Saturday around 10:30 a.m., visitors to the Maniva ski resort heard the Italian Alps suddenly a loud propeller over their heads. Giorgio Oliva’s blue helicopter circled over the mountain. For the president of the steel group Industrie Riuniti Odolesi (IRO), the winding road by car to the parking lot is nothing – as we all know, time is money.

So he landed in the middle of the runway, right in front of the astonished carabinieri. The officers stationed there watched as the man parked his helicopter next to the downhill run, calmly put on his boots, helmet and gloves and raced down the slope on skis.

This is how the entrepreneur talks his way out of it

When he arrived at the bottom of the valley, he would have had a plausible explanation ready: “I didn’t have time, I was in a hurry and wanted to To ski“, he said to the police, according to the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The documents for the helicopter and its flight license were perfect, only a permit for the flight and landing in the Maniva ski area was missing.

After his departure, Giorgio Oliva had to make the departure. He is threatened with a fine again because the aviation authority in… Italy proceedings were initiated against him.

Always flights to the runway

Back in April, the 66-year-old landed his helicopter on a peak in the Madonna di Campiglio ski area in the Dolomites. He had to pay a fine of 2,000 euros for this.

In 2020, one of these ski trips with a friend of mine went terribly wrong: On the way to the slopes, the helicopter crashed in the mountains on the French border, killing a managing director (†59) of IRO.

Giorgio Oliva then pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to eight months in prison on probation.
