UN political mission completes work in Iraq

The mission was created to coordinate international efforts to reconstruct Iraq and deliver and distribute humanitarian aid, as well as to facilitate the establishment of a democratic government. Iraq itself initiated its cessation.

“We highly value the work of the mission in a region that has suffered for decades from dictatorship, war and terror. The cessation of its work shows that Iraq is able to fully rely on itself, but this does not mean the end of our cooperation,” said Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.
