War in Ukraine: “a unique mission”, kyiv claims the sabotage of two Su-30 and Su-27 fighters on Russian territory

A simple fire on the Russian side, a victory on the Ukrainian side. kyiv’s intelligence services claim to have carried out a “unique” operation on Russian territory, destroying two enemy fighter planes during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

According to a statement shared on Telegram by the Main Directorate of Ukrainian Intelligence (HUR), the sabotage took place at a Russian military airfield near Lipetsk, 350 km from the Ukrainian front.

“As a result of this unique mission of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, carried out directly by a representative of the resistance movement to the Russian criminal regime, both military aircraft of the aggressor were decommissioned,” writes the HUR.

A target of choice

Still according to the HUR, “the study of patrol routes and guard change times made it possible to discreetly penetrate the military installation of the aggressor state, strike the Russian Sukhoi directly inside the protected hangar, then leave the airfield without incident.”

The intelligence services had been preparing this operation for two weeks, before spotting two fighters, a Su-30 and a Su-27 already seen on the front, parked in a hangar protected by the Russian army. The devices, and their identification numbers “12” and “82,” were estimated to be worth $100 million in total.

Lipetsk is home to one of the main centers of Russian military aviation, including pilot training and combat air operations facilities. Enough to make it a target of choice for the Ukrainian army.
