Flávio Bolsonaro defends “moderation” of the family legacy

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) had his first interview with the international press released this Monday (22), on which occasion he defended a presidential campaign next year focused on “moderating” his family’s legacy, promoting a smaller government, cutting taxes and carrying out privatizations.

HAS Reutersthe eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro informed that he plans to travel abroad in January. Destinations may include the United States, Argentina, Chile, Israel, Europe and the Middle East, according to the British agency.

The senator noted that he would like to meet with President Donald Trump and hopes to invite him to the inauguration in January 2027, if he wins the presidential election in October of next year.

“I consider myself a more centered Bolsonaro,” he said in the interview held in his office, in Brasília, last Friday. “I’ve always had this profile: being more moderate, more considered”, he emphasized.

Reuters noted that the announcement of his candidacy this month shook financial markets, as investors were betting that the former president would support a “more experienced” candidate, such as the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas, to “prevent” a fourth term for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Flávio Bolsonaro said he will maintain a pro-market agenda started under his father’s government. His economic proposals, he pointed out, include tax cuts, modernization of the State and privatizations to “boost” the largest economy in Latin America, including the Post Office.

The senator also informed that his government is evaluating a more detailed analysis of Petrobras’ assets to eventually sell assets and optimize the state-owned oil company’s operations.
