The German Police rules out that Monday’s accident in Giessen was a terrorist attack

The German authorities have indicated this Tuesday that there is no evidence to indicate that the accident recorded on Monday in the city of Giessen, in the state of Hesse, which left three injured, supports the theory that it was a terrorist attack.

“There is no reliable information that can be given at this time about the exact motive for the crime, as the suspect only made incoherent statements shortly after the arrest,” the local police said in a statement.

Thus, it has been detailed that the 32-year-old driver changed lanes and crashed at high speed into a parked vehicle, which subsequently crashed into a bus stop, seriously injuring a 64-year-old woman.

The man continued his route, partially on the sidewalk, injuring two other people, before crashing into another vehicle, at which time he was arrested. The suspect, born in Azerbaijan, is a resident of Giessen investigated for attempted murder, traffic offenses and grievous bodily harm.

Likewise, they have also highlighted that there are indications that he suffers from acute psychosis, which is why they have requested that he undergo a psychiatric analysis. “Please understand that, due to reasons related to the ongoing investigation, no more information can be given at this time,” he concluded.
