The US publishes a new package of thousands of documents from the Epstein case

The United States Department of Justice officially published this Tuesday a new package with thousands of documents related to the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after the removal of some photographs sparked criticism against US President Donald Trump, who appeared in some images.

Now the Government has brought to light another 30,000 pages of documents linked to the case, but has warned in a statement that some of these files “contain false and sensational statements against President Trump.”

“The claims are baseless and false, and if they had even a modicum of credibility, they would undoubtedly have already been used as a weapon against the president. However, because of our commitment to the law and transparency, the Department of Justice is releasing these documents taking into account the legal protections required to protect Epstein’s victims,” ​​he indicated.

This same Tuesday, Trump criticized the publication of many of the photographs that appear in the files, considering that they could “ruin the reputations of innocent people” simply by appearing next to Epstein.

In this sense, he alluded to the fact that Epstein – convicted of sexual abuse and trafficking of minors – was “everywhere in Palm Beach, so many people crossed paths with him sooner or later.” “Many are angry about the publication of these photos because there are many people who had nothing to do with him but appear in some image because they were at the same party,” he noted. “This ruins the reputation of innocent people,” he added.

Following the publication of the files, a letter allegedly signed by Epstein and sent to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar – convicted of abusing hundreds of girls and women by taking advantage of his work as a doctor for the Olympic gymnastics team – has come to light in which the deceased billionaire appears to make a reference to Trump, although he does not name him directly.

“We share one thing: our love and affection for young women and the hope that they reach their full potential. Our president also shares our love for young and nubile girls,” reads the letter, processed on August 13, 2019.

An investigator discovered the letter, published this Tuesday by the Department of Justice, in the prison post office weeks after the billionaire was found dead in his cell, although at that time the content of the letter was not known, according to CNN.

The envelope was sent to Nassar, who was in a federal prison in Arizona, from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, although the letter was postmarked three days after Epstein’s death, so its sending was apparently delayed.

The US Department of Justice has subsequently indicated in a brief message published on its social networks that it “is currently investigating the validity of this alleged letter from Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar.”

Likewise, he has defended that “the postmark on the envelope is from Virginia, not New York”, and that “the sender’s address indicated the incorrect prison where Epstein was located and did not include his inmate number”, something that is “necessary” for sending a letter.

Another document released by the Department of Justice itself – which refers to a request by the FBI in New York to carry out a handwriting analysis of the letter to determine if the handwriting corresponded to Epstein – alludes to the fact that the letter was sent from the Manhattan correctional facility, although the results of the handwriting test are not known for now.

“The letter was ‘returned to sender’ and in the upper left corner was written the following: J. Epstein Manhattan Correctional Facility NYC NY 10007. The letter was postmarked NOVA 220 dated August 13, 2019 and was addressed to Larry Nassar, 9300 S. Wilmot Road, Tucson, Arizona, 85756,” the FBI document states. The letter, sent from Manhattan, would have been processed in northern Virginia and returned to the sender.

Last week, the Justice Department released several batches of previously classified documents related to the child abuse ring led by Epstein. However, hundreds of pages of these new documents are completely black.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sexual abuse and trafficking of dozens of children in the early 2000s. This millionaire, who even rubbed shoulders at some point with personalities such as Prince Andrew of England – brother of Charles III -, former US president Bill Clinton and Trump, was discovered hanged in his cell.
