Palestinian from Qabatiya attacks with a knife and a car in several places in northern Israel

At least two people died this Friday in an attack with a knife and a car accident in several parts of northern Israel, after which the suspect was shot by a person who was in the area and subsequently detained by security forces.

The Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) emergency service has indicated on its Telegram account that one of the victims is a 68-year-old man who was run over and an 18-year-old teenager who was stabbed at a bus stop.

The Israel Police have pointed out that the assailant has been “neutralized” by an armed person who opened fire on him and has highlighted that it was a multi-point attack that began in Beit Shean, near the border with the West Bank, and ended at a crossing near Afula, where he was shot.

The head of the Israeli Police, Danny Levy, has stressed in statements to the press that it is “a very serious incident” and has thanked the “security officer” who shot the assailant, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

“The incident has ended, the terrorist was neutralized. We continue to operate regarding the terrorist and his family, investigating the events together with the Shin Bet and other security officials,” he stated, in reference to the investigations into the identity and residence of the attacker.

For his part, Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has assured that he has ordered the Army to act “strongly and immediately” in the West Bank city of Qabatiya, where the suspect resides, according to a statement provided by his office.

Thus, he stressed that the security forces will work to “locate and detain any terrorist and hit the terrorist infrastructure in the town.” “Anyone who supports or endorses terrorism will pay a high price,” he warned.
