China has imposed sanctions on the United States for selling arms to Taiwan. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that arms sales “undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Restrictions have been imposed on 20 US military industrial companies and 10 senior executives of defense corporations. Sanctions include asset freezes and bans on cooperation with listed entities and individuals. Individuals are also barred from entering China.
In early December, the Trump administration approved a record $11.1 billion arms sale to Taiwan. The package includes HIMARS systems, Javelin anti-tank missiles, Altius drones, howitzers and other equipment.
