The reservist who hit a man while he was praying is under house arrest

A settler and reservist of the Israel Defense Forces, filmed yesterday in a video in which he is seen hitting a Palestinian who was praying with an off-road vehicle, has been placed under house arrest. The suspect was arrested last night and subsequently placed under house arrest for five days. Only following this last measure was news of his arrest reported, we read in the Times of Israel.

Images published yesterday by Palestinian media showed the man hitting a Palestinian kneeling in prayer with a quad bike on the side of the road near the village of Deir Jarir, north of Ramallah, in the West Bank. The silent video showed the Palestinian falling to the ground and remaining lying while the settler, with a semi-automatic rifle on his shoulder, got off the tractor and shouted at him, gesturing to make him understand to move away from the area. He then approached a taxi, shouting at the driver before getting back on the quad bike and driving away. The IDF announced that the reservist’s weapon was confiscated and that he was suspended from service.
