The expected meeting between A-Shara and Putin – and the fear in Israel First publication

First publication: Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharae plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Western diplomats claim. In Israel they fear that the two will sign a deal in which both parties will come out profitable.

According to estimates in Israel, Al-Sharia will allow the Russians to deploy forces in the demilitarized zone in southern Syria and increase their presence at bases on the country’s coasts as was the case during the Assad regime – and in return he will demand from the Russians weapons and military equipment, these may be weapons of strategic importance.

Western diplomats believe that the move could, from the point of view of Sharia, endanger its forged relations with the Trump administration. Not least, Putin is hosting Syria’s foreign and defense ministers this week, and reaffirms that he supports Syrian tyranny and its territorial integrity – a clear message to Israel.
