Perry Bamonte, guitarist of The Cure, has died at the age of 65

Bamonte became roadie for The Cure in 1984. His brother Daryl was the band’s tour manager. Bamonte later became the personal assistant to Robert Smith, the band’s frontman.

When keyboardist Roger O’Donnell left The Cure in 1990, Bamonte became a band member. He played keyboards and guitar, and sometimes bass guitar and percussion. The musician was featured on a number of successful albums, such as Wish from 1992. His last album was Bloodflowers from 2000. In 2005, Bamonte was kicked out of the band by Robert Smith, who wanted to continue as a three-piece.

However, Bamonte officially returned in 2022 and played again during the Shows of a lost world-tour. He would also tour in 2026 during a series of European performances that were planned. The Cure also attends a number of major festivals, including Rock Werchter and Pinkpop.
