Syrian security arrests 12 people, including former officers coming from Lebanon

The Syrian authorities arrested 12 people, including officers linked to the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad, on the Syrian-Lebanese border on Friday night. The Department of Media and Communications at the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on its social media pages, “Border Guard units arrested 12 people, including members and officers with ties to the former regime, on the Syrian-Lebanese border.” The statement added: “The detainees will be handed over to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures.” Sources in Homs Governorate revealed to the German News Agency that “12 people were arrested, including high-ranking officers in the former regime’s army, including a colonel, near the city of Tal Kalakh on the border.”
