Croats in Serbia receive EUR 500,000 in support for agriculture: Tender open

“It is the first program to help Croats in Serbia in the field of agriculture, from which a large number of members of this community make a living,” said Jasna Vojnicaute, member of parliament and president of HNV, in front of about 70 farmers in the village of Mala Bosna.

At the first of a series of public meetings that will be held over the next 10 days or so in places with a large number of Croats, it was pointed out that one agricultural farm will be able to receive a maximum of 10,000 euros for the purchase of machines and mechanization, as well as equipment for farming, cattle breeding, fruit growing, planting perennial plantations, land lease, and more.

The competition will be open until January 23, and financial support will be available to members of the Croatian community, registered in the voter list of the Croatian national minority in Serbia, the crowd was told.

Activism in the community and in the church, as well as membership in Croatian associations, will be especially valued.

The tasks of monitoring the implementation of the program will be carried out by the foundation “Cro fond” in Subotica with the help of of HNV.

The announcement of the competition was preceded by the preparation of the Register of Croatian businessmen and agricultural farms in Serbia, which was the basis for sending a request to the Croatian government for this type of support for Croats in Serbia.

The data showed, reported by the Croatian media in Vojvodina, that the wordč about smaller farms, which have up to 10 hectares of land, and that they most need support for mechanization renewal, then land lease, expansion of warehouses, strengthening of the stock fund.

The initiative was based on the experiences of the Hungarian community and the “Prosperitate” foundation, which was financed by Hungary.

Through incentives to businessmen, they financed the purchase of machines or land, rural houses, construction of plants, and starting a business.

Croatian businessmen in Vojvodina, above all farmers, have not had such support until now because they were not competitive on the market, it was stated in the conclusions of the Register of Croatian businessmen and agricultural farms in Vojvodina.
