Commentator Baruch Yadid: “Saudi Arabia made it clear to the Emirates: ‘You have crossed a red line'”

Even before that, the Saudis in response bombed an arms shipment that came from the Emirates to the Southern Transitional Council, but it seems that the Saudis and the Emirates are trying to cheer things up, inter alia through the mediation of the two’s common ally: the United States. “This morning, the ultimatum set by the Saudis is supposed to expire, and reports have begun about the withdrawal of the southern forces,” the reporter said. “Both the Emiratis and the Saudis are trying to contain the incident. Saudi Arabia wants one whole Yemen, and therefore Saudi Arabia leads the coalition, and does not want any more separation in the anti-Houthi camp in the southern region.”

This conflict seems strange to Israeli eyes who see the non-Qatar Gulf states as one harmonious bloc. “We think that the Emirates is under the command of the Saudis, but in Yemen it looks completely different. The Saudis told the Emiratis: ‘You crossed a red line,’ and the Emiratis replied: ‘Who are you to raise your head against us?'” said a friend.

Big money is also hidden behind the conflict between the two Gulf countries, as a friend explained: “These countries are fighting for business dominance. We saw that Riyadh invites huge companies to it instead of Abu Dhabi.”
