Trump in an unusual reference to the protests in Iran: if the regime continues to shoot at you

The president addressed for the first time the protests that are expanding throughout the Islamic Republic in a message on the TRUTH network.

Against the background of the increasing protests in Iran, US President Donald Trump sent a threatening and dramatic message this morning (Friday) to the Iranian regime: “If they continue to violently kill peaceful protesters, we will come to their rescue. We are ready for action.” According to the latest estimates, so far there have been about 7 deaths in the protests, in addition to dozens of injured and dozens of arrests.

This is the president’s first reference to the conflicts in Iran. In an unusual tweet on the TRUTH network, he threatened Tehran: “If Iran continues to violently kill peaceful protesters, as is their custom, the US will come to their aid. We are loaded and ready to go.”

Ali Larijani, the advisor of Supreme Leader Khamenei responded in his own tweet and wrote: “American interference in Iran’s internal affairs will lead to chaos.”

Trump on Iran: “The consequences will be powerful”

In his meeting this week with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump presented a hawkish line regarding Iran. He backed up a possible attack by Israel – even if it would be against the background of the ballistic missile threat and not the nuclear one.

  • The president did not rule out the possibility that Tehran is trying to rehabilitate the damaged nuclear sites: “I hope that they are not trying to strengthen themselves, that they are not trying to arm themselves and other things, because if they are, and they are not using the sites that we destroyed, but maybe they are using other sites. We know exactly where they are heading and what they are doing, but I hope that they do not do this because we do not want to waste the fuel of (bombers) B2, it is a lot of flight hours and I do not want to waste a lot fuel”.
  • On the possibility of another confrontation with Iran: “I don’t want to say this, but it is possible that they are wrong Iran, that they are not behaving properly, if we find out that this is indeed the case, they are aware of the consequences, and the consequences will be very powerful, maybe even more than last time. Iran should have signed an agreement last time, I gave them the option and told them ‘do it’ – they didn’t believe me, and now they do.”
  • Trump was asked if there was evidence that Iran was “misbehaving”, and replied: “That’s what we’re hearing, but usually there’s no smoke without fire.” Regarding the nuclear program, Trump said: “We heard that they are not yet nuclear, but close to it. The sites have been destroyed, but they are looking at others. They will not go back to where they were, but there are other places they can go. If they do it would be a big mistake, there is no reason for them to do it.”

the situation picture

  • The riots are still not of the magnitude and intensity of the previous protest waves, such as in the riots that broke out following the death of the young woman Amini in 2022 – events that received the nickname “the hijab riots”, but this is only the fifth day of the protest – and the situation in Iran is only escalating.
  • The riots have already spread to 27 centers and are also taking place in broad daylight: the state and opposition media in the country are reporting dead protesters in Lordjastan, Kuhadasht and Isfahan. Clashes were also reported in the city of Qom and firing by the Iranian security forces at demonstrators in Nahwand, in the Madan district.
  • The Iranian regime is trying to blame Israel for the protests and deflect the fire: according to the line adopted by the regime, it is supposedly a project operated by Israel and the US, and blocked by the public itself. The regime’s supporters set themselves the goal of treating the demonstrations as a timed move that takes advantage of economic distress to ignite riots and lead to security escalation.

The map of interests

  • The official state of Israel does not express itself regarding the riots in Iran – but the question is what happens when the Ayatollahs rule is with their backs against the wall.
  • The fall of the regime in Tehran is in the interest of many countries in the region. At this stage, the regime is not in existential danger, but these are moves that are difficult to predict in advance and the whole of the Middle East and the Gulf countries are following, wondering how it will react to chaos and riots.
  • If the Ayatollah regime tries to create a “spin” in the form of an attack or regional escalation – the security establishment is prepared to respond and, like it, the Gulf countries who see Iran as a generator of regional terrorism and chaos.

what are they saying

  • The regime is trying with all its might to restore order, and Iranian President Pazkhian even spoke out and said that “we have made a decision that we will announce later – to provide aid to all the Iranian people.”
  • The Iranian press, which is under the control of the regime, spoke out and said that “the people rejected the media and the field puppets of Israel and its allies showed once again that Iranian society is well aware of the difference between protest and chaos. And that it does not play on the enemy’s court.”
  • The son of the exiled shah, greeted the Iranian people and said “the current Islamic Republic tried to stop you by closing public places and universities.” He asked the Iranian people to “take advantage of every opportunity in the coming days to expand this movement,” and promised to continue mobilizing people to expand the protest.
