A 6.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded in southern Mexico

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 on the open Richter scale shook southern Mexico this Friday, an event that has caused the temporary suspension of a press appearance in Mexico City by the country’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, with no information on victims for now.

The National Seismological Service of Mexico has indicated in a message published on its account on the social network X that the epicenter has been located 15 kilometers southwest of San Marcos, in the state of Guerrero, with the hypocenter located about ten kilometers deep.

The earthquake has caused the interruption of Sheinbaum’s daily press conference when he was addressing the press. Both the president and those present have left the place as part of the security measures, although the appearance has subsequently been resumed.
