The Paris Criminal Court has convicted ten defendants in a case involving the spread of conspiracy theories on the Internet, according to which the wife of French President Brigitte Macron was born a man.
The defendants faced up to two years in prison, but the verdict turned out to be much softer – from being sent to courses to combat online bullying to eight months of suspended imprisonment.
Among those brought to trial are a gallery owner, a teacher, an official, an advertising manager, and a total of eight men and two women. The age of the defendants ranges from 41 to 60 years.
They were accused of making numerous malicious comments regarding the gender and sexuality of the French First Lady. In particular, on the basis that Brigitte Macron is 24 years older than her husband, they accused her of pedophilia.
The president’s wife filed a lawsuit in August 2024, the first arrests were made in December 2024 and February 2025. Let us recall that another similar lawsuit is being considered by US courts.
