Nestlé is recalling ten NAN baby food products

There have been no reports of illness from consumption of the products in question, but together with the Food Agency, Nestlé says it is “not taking any chances when it comes to the safety of babies”.

Ingestion of cereulide may cause severe or persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or unusual lethargy, and such symptoms can usually occur between 30 minutes and 6 hours after exposure. If those symptoms do not occur, there is no cause for health concern. Anyone who is concerned about the health or nutrition of his or her child is advised to contact a pediatrician or healthcare provider.

A non-conformity with food safety standards was identified during internal quality control, Nestlé said. The cereulide was in a raw material from a supplier.

In concrete terms, this concerns the following products, which are only available at pharmacies: NAN Evolia 1 (400g), NAN Evolia 1 (800g), NAN EXPERTPRO AR 0-12 months (4×26.2g), NAN EXPERTPRO AR 0-12 months (800g), NAN EXPERTPRO Complete 0-12 months (4×26.2g), NAN EXPERTPRO Complete 0-12 months (800g), NAN EXPERTPRO Without lactose (400g), NAN SINERGITY 2 (800g), PreNAN Stage 2 (400g), Alfamino (400g), NAN EXPERT PRO AR MIX 0-12 months (800g) and PreNAN Stage 1 70ml.

Anyone who bought these products at home is advised not to consume them. Take them to the point of sale for a refund, or contact Nestlé Consumer Service for further questions: +32 (0)2 529 55 25 or by email at [email protected].
