The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, stated that his US counterpart, Donald Trump, has a “senile brain” and, therefore, considers him a “drug trafficking leader”. The statement comes at a time of verbal escalation between the two and uncertainty about the future of Venezuela with the capture of Nicolás Maduro.
“The title that Trump gives me as a drug gangster is a reflection of his senile brain. He sees true libertarians as narco-terrorists because we don’t give him coal or oil,” Petro said in a long message on social media, in which he did not specify when the American president called him that.
The Colombian’s reaction comes days after Trump suggested in statements to the press a military operation in Colombia.
According to the White House leader, “Colombia is very sick” and is “governed by a sick man who likes to manufacture cocaine and sell it to the USA”.
In the message, Petro attributed the verbal escalation with Trump to the fact that they do not agree with “the irrationality of capitalism” that is “leading humanity, just out of greed, to extinction” due to its desire to extract more and more natural resources, such as oil and coal.
The Colombian appealed to American voters who support the Republican, saying that they should be responsible “to the world for the vote that generates human extinction, including the people of the USA, who miss the opportunity to ally with Latin America to decarbonize the world, the best deal of all, because it saves the lives of the planet”.
“They want to turn us into colonies. Killing humanity is killing their own children”, defended the leftist leader.
In December, the US president warned that Petro could be “next on the list” after dictator Nicolás Maduro, who was captured on the 3rd with his wife, Cilia Flores, and taken to the US for trial on charges of involvement in an international drug trafficking network.
