Vietnam announces the 14th Party Congress to the international community

During the announcement on January 7 in Hanoi, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam taking place on January 19-25 is a turning point event, a particularly important milestone in the country’s development process.

This is an important opportunity to evaluate and summarize 40 years since the implementation of the reform process and 5 years of the 13th National Party Congress (2021-2026), thereby setting goals and directions for comprehensive development in all fields in the new era of the Vietnamese people.

Minister Le Hoai Trung said that the work of developing documents for the Congress had a fundamental innovation when the Political Report for the first time integrated the content of three documents: Political Report, Socio-Economic Report, and Party Building Summary Report. The document was carefully and elaborately prepared and consulted widely throughout the Party and people, both domestically and abroad.

Regarding the personnel work of the Congress, Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that this especially important task is carried out “thoroughly, firmly, cautiously, accurately and considers this a prerequisite to turn vision and aspirations into results”.

The foreign policy in the Congress documents inherits the foreign policy of the reform period, adding the direction of strengthening national defense and security and promoting foreign affairs and international integration as an important and regular task.

Minister Le Hoai Trung said that Vietnam’s consistent policy is independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, and diversification of foreign relations; ensuring the highest national and ethnic interests on the basis of the basic principles of the United Nations Charter, equal and mutually beneficial cooperation. The fact that Nam is also a friend, a trusted partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community; Actively and responsibly participate in solving common regional and international problems.

The Minister said that Vietnam is ready for the Congress and respectfully extended invitations to representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam to attend the opening and closing sessions.

At the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Earthavanh said that the 14th Congress marks a new milestone in Vietnam’s development period after 40 years since the Doi Moi period, and is an important political event for Vietnam and for international friends, neighboring countries, and strategic partners of Vietnam.

Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam, Head of Foreign Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam Saadi Salama believes that the 14th Congress will make major decisions, taking into account the interests of the Vietnamese people of autonomy, independence, and self-reliance, serving the development interests of the country, serving mutual cooperation, serving long-term peace not only in the region but also in the world.

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis emphasized that Vietnam has become a self-reliant country and with a high GDP, becoming a country with an upper middle income and holding a high position in human indicators. According to her, Vietnam’s story is inspiring not only in numbers but also in determination in ensuring growth, policies are implemented practically, putting people at the center of development and strengthening institutions.

Ambassadors and representatives of foreign agencies in Vietnam believe that the 14th Congress will take place successfully.
