The Syrian authorities set a deadline to evacuate Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo before resuming military operations

Damascus – Agencies On Thursday, the Syrian authorities set a new deadline for civilians to leave the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, before targeting sites began, two days after the most violent clashes broke out between them. Since Tuesday, government and Kurdish forces have exchanged accusations of sparking clashes that have so far left at least 17 dead, including 16 civilians. It comes as negotiations between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have faltered, since they signed an agreement in March that stipulated the integration of Kurdish self-administration institutions into the framework of the Syrian state. The Aleppo Governorate authorities announced “the reopening of two humanitarian corridors to secure the exit of civilians” from the two neighborhoods between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
