WASHINGTON – Reuters US President Donald Trump said, in an interview published by the New York Times on Thursday, that the United States could supervise Venezuela and control its oil revenues for years to come, as part of a plan that he said aimed to “rebuild the country in a very profitable way.” Trump explained that “only time will determine” the duration of American supervision, adding: “I would say much longer than that,” when asked whether the period would take months, a year, or more. Oil is at the core of the American plan. Trump confirmed that Washington will use Venezuelan oil to reduce global energy prices, while providing financial support to Venezuela, noting that the United States has already begun an operation to arrest the president.
