More than a thousand buildings in Kyiv were left without heating

On January 11, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced that more than 1,000 buildings in the Ukrainian capital were left without heating during the cold winter, as infrastructure was damaged by Russian strikes.

Klitschko said that “rehabilitation works continue, but the situation remains difficult.” Since sub-zero temperatures are expected in the coming days, the mayor called on the residents to temporarily leave the city if possible.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, more than 500,000 consumers were left without electricity in Kyiv.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko said the recent attacks on Kiev were among the biggest attacks on energy infrastructure since the Russian invasion.
