Reuters: Despite attempts, Iranian regime fails to completely shut down Starlink

As Reuters reports, Iranian authorities are unable to completely suppress the Starlink satellite Internet of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, despite the fact that such efforts are being made.

Internet shutdowns began in Iran on January 8. According to the monitoring company NetBlocks, Internet communications operating through optical cables and cell phone antennas operate at 1% load.

But at least three Iranians told Reuters they could use Starlink, as could dozens of people they knew. One of them said that dozens of his friends are doing the same. In addition, residents of border areas also have access to satellite Internet.

It is unclear what exactly the authorities are doing to shut down the Internet. Experts believe that this goal is achieved by creating interference by overloading the terminals, as a result of which they experience problems receiving a signal from space.
