US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced the start of the second phase of Donald Trump’s plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. This statement was published on the social network by X.

“Today, on behalf of President Trump, we are announcing the start of the second phase of the President’s 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which includes a transition from a ceasefire to demilitarization, technocratic government, and reconstruction,” the statement said.

Witkoff explains that in the second stage, a transitional technocratic Palestinian Authority will be created in Gaza – the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. It is planned to completely demilitarize the territory, including the disarmament of all illegal armed groups. Witkoff stressed that the United States expects Hamas to fully comply with its obligations, including the immediate transfer of the body of the last dead Israeli hostage. He warns that otherwise “Hamas will face serious consequences.”

According to the American representative, the first phase of the plan was successful: the ceasefire remains in effect, unprecedented humanitarian aid was delivered to Gaza, all living hostages were released and the bodies of 27 of the 28 dead were handed over. Witkoff expressed gratitude to Egypt, Turkey and Qatar for their mediation, which made the progress possible.
