A US official confirmed to Reuters that the US has begun withdrawing troops and personnel from several key military installations in the Middle East as a precaution amid rising tensions and preparations for a possible operation against Iran.
Earlier it was reported that employees at the American Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar were advised to leave the base by the evening of January 14. Al-Udeid is considered the largest American base in the Middle East, with about 10 thousand troops stationed there.
