"The goal of European countries is to keep America on board"

Gaza has entered “phase 2” while for Ukraine it will take a long time but the objective of European countries remains to “keep America on board”, despite its slow detachment, to protect themselves from Moscow’s aims.

These are two of the observation points of international politics expressed by Maurizio Massari, the Italian ambassador to the UN who has just completed the assignment. Guest of Gei a New York in a meeting moderated by the group’s president and journalist Mario Platero, Massari analyzed global crises.

The intermediate phase and global disorder

The ambassador explained that, at least in the short term, does not see “a new order”but an intermediate phase to manage. “I don’t believe – he declared – that there can be, at least in the short term, a new order. We are a bit destined to live in a phase of global disorderand therefore our task is to manage this disorder to ensure that can avoid major conflicts”.

The factors that have worn down the post-war structure

Massari indicated the factors that, according to him, have led to wear of the structure born after the Second World War: “The actions ofRussia sin dal 2008 in Georgiathen in 2014 in Crimea and Donbas, until the invasion in 2022″. But also “the rise of China” and “the detachment of the United States from this order multilateral system that they themselves had created.”
