The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has assured that the country “has never been, nor will it be” an obstacle to peace, which is why he has asked to maintain pressure on Russia, after the US president, Donald Trump, accused the Ukrainian president of delaying the agreement to end the war.

“Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace. It is the Russian missiles, the ‘shaheds’ and Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine that clearly demonstrate that what it seeks are not agreements at all,” the Ukrainian president said in a message to the Ukrainian population collected by his office.

In this sense, he pointed out that the lack of electricity for “20 or 30 hours” is due to the Russian attacks, “and when the Russian attacks aim to destroy our energy system and our people, it is Russia that must be put under pressure.”

This message comes to respond to the latest attacks by Trump, who in an interview with the Reuters agency, once again criticized the Ukrainian leader for what he considers a dilatory position in the talks to end the war.

Trump’s words found support from the Kremlin, whose spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, insisted that Moscow’s position has remained “coherent” from the beginning and that, on the other hand, “the situation is worsening day by day for the Kiev regime,” so the Ukrainian president has less “room for maneuver” and must “assume his responsibilities.”
