Trump hints: will impose assets on countries that will submit to American control in Greenland

Trump, who has been insisting for months that the US should control the semi-autonomous territory, said earlier this week that any scenario that does not include US control of the island is unthinkable.

During an event at the White House that dealt with health in rural areas, the president mentioned his previous threats to impose tariffs on medicines from Europe, adding: “I may do the same for Greenland. I may impose tariffs on countries if they do not cooperate on the issue of Greenland, because we need it for national security.” In the past, the White House has not even ruled out the possibility of taking over the territory by force, claiming that China and Russia have their eyes on the island’s natural resources.
