Uganda, opposition leader Bobi Wine taken away by military helicopter

The Ugandan opposition leader was taken away from his home on board a military helicopter. His party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), denounced it. “An army helicopter landed at President Bobi Wine’s compound and forcefully took him to an unknown destination,” the NUP said on its X account.

The capture of Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, came after the opposition leader himself declared that the army had surrounded his house in the Magere neighborhood, on the outskirts of the Ugandan capital Kampala. Wine had spoken of “massive” voter fraud in Thursday’s elections.
