Pahlavi jr: "The regime will fall and I will return to Iran"

Reza Pahlavi junior, son of the last Iranian shah, has no doubt that the regime of the ayatollahs is in its decline. “The Islamic Republic will fall, it’s not a question of if, but when,” he said at a news conference in Washington. Pahlavi then assured that he “will return” to Iran.

“One thing that is becoming increasingly clear is that the regime could pose a last-ditch threat to the world,” Pahlavi warned. “The Iranian people are taking decisive actions on the ground. Now is the time for the international community to join them fully,” the crown prince urged, proposing a list of six things that should be done now.

First, “protect the Iranian people by reducing the regime’s repressive capabilities, too targeting the leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its command and control infrastructure.” Second, “impose and maintain maximum economic pressure on the regime.”

Third, “allow unrestricted access to the Internet.” Fourth, “expel Iranian diplomats from capitals and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for crimes against humanity.” Fifth, “call for the immediate release of all political prisoners.” And finally, “preparing for a democratic transition in Iranpledging to recognize a legitimate transitional government when the time comes.”
