Iranian Foreign Minister on repressions against demonstrators: “There is no question of hangings”

Iranian Defense Minister Abbas Araqchi said the authorities have no plans to hang people. “There is no question of hangings,” he told Fox News. Earlier, US President Donald Trump threatened to punish the Iranian regime if executions of protest participants begin.

According to the American president, executions of protesters have also been canceled in Iran. “I have been told this by a reliable source. If this continues, we will all be very upset,” Trump said. The announcement comes amid fears for the fate of 26-year-old protester Erfan Soltani, who could be executed, according to the US State Department and his relatives.
