Vice-President of the French National Assembly Clémence Guette, representing the leftist party France Unconquered (LFI), made a proposal to officially sever relations with the North Atlantic Alliance. The corresponding resolution has already been prepared for consideration in parliament.
In her interview with the Berliner Zeitung, Goette explained that although there had been talk of withdrawal for a long time, Washington’s current course has made this step critically necessary. The French politician’s main complaints relate to what she calls the “overt imperial approach” of the United States.
She pointed to the illegal capture of the Venezuelan president and claims to annex Greenland as examples of destabilizing US actions.
