The Pancevac refinery is alive again! Janaf opened the faucet, after the delivery, the production started

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović announced today on social networks that around 2,000 employees in the refinery “are working in the city on production, and the first quantities of Eurodiesel and derivatives will be delivered to the market from January 27.

The transportation of crude oil for Janaf Refinery in Pančevo started on Tuesday, and the Croatian Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar pointed out the interest that the Serbian refinery is working, and that Croatia expects to transport as much oil as possible through Janaf so that the company can realize its role as a stabilizing factor of the energy security of the Republic of Croatia and the region.

The US Department of Finance’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) introduced sanctions on the Russian energy sector in early 2025, and sanctions on NIS, in which the Russian side has 56.1 percent ownership, came into force on October 9.

In the meantime, the American administration issued a license for the continuation of oil transportation to NIS until January 23, and OFAC extended the deadline for negotiations on the sale of the majority Russian stake to the Serbian Oil Industry until March 24, after the previous deadline for changing the ownership structure, which was until February 13.

In addition to the Hungarian MOL, the company ADNOC from the United Arab Emirates is also interested in a potential partnership in NIS.
