The criminal court of appeals changed the detention imposed on the former mayor of Masis, Davit Hambardzumyan, by applying house arrest and bail, Hambardzumyan’s lawyer Gayane Papoyan reports.
Davit Hambardzumyan was detained in October 2025 upon his arrival in Armenia.
Davit Hambardzumyan was deprived of his freedom due to the events of the 2018 regime change. Seven years later, a court found him guilty in 2018 of using weapons against protesters. He was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison. Hambardzumyan claims that he is being politically persecuted.
