The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will receive the “Zayed” award for the peace agreement

The Human Brotherhood Zayed Award is an annual, independent and international award given to individuals or organizations around the world who set an example, collaborate, build bridges, and create real human connections, often at the cost of personal sacrifice. Prize winners receive $1 million. In previous years, for example, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Pope Francis of Rome, who died in April 2025, received the award.

The award was named after the founder of the United Arab Emirates, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s spokesperson wrote on Facebook today: “The award was given in recognition of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as a continuous effort towards dialogue, strengthening of trust and the formation of stable and lasting peace in the region. The same prize was awarded to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, which once again emphasizes that the path to peace requires joint work.

In July last year, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan held talks in Abu Dhabi for about five hours and discussed “various aspects of the agenda for the regulation of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
