The Moroccan Foreign Ministry announced on January 19 that King Mohammed VI accepted the invitation of US President Donald Trump to join as a founder of the Peace Council for the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Ministry statement notes that the invitation is a recognition of the authority of King Muhammad VI as a key figure in the peace process and evidence of trust in him from the American leader and the international community. Morocco will ratify the founding charter of the “Council”, which will receive the status of an international organization aimed at promoting stability and ensuring lasting peace in conflict zones.
“The Kingdom of Morocco welcomes the announcement of the start of the second phase of Trump’s comprehensive plan and the creation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza as a temporary transition body,” the statement said.
