Trump said Putin accepted an invitation to join the Peace Council

US President Donald Trump said in an interview with CNBC that Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted an invitation to join the Peace Council.

“Because we want everyone. We want all countries. This is the greatest council ever assembled,” Trump responded to the host’s question about why he invited Putin. “He was invited. He accepted the invitation,” Trump said about the Russian president.

According to Russian media reports, the Kremlin has not yet made a decision. In particular, TASS reports that Putin instructed the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study the proposal received to join the Peace Council and consult with partners.

The Kremlin press service reports that at a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council, Putin announced his readiness to send $1 billion from Russian assets frozen under the previous US administration to the Peace Council. “Taking into account Russia’s special relations with the Palestinian people, we could, I think, send $1 billion from Russian assets frozen under the previous US Administration to the Peace Council,” TASS quotes the president.
