NATO said: Greenland must stay away from Russia and China

“Discussions among NATO Allies on the framework that the President (Donald Trump) mentioned will focus on ensuring Arctic security through the collective efforts of the Allies, especially the seven Arctic Allies,” the spokesman said.

“Negotiations between Denmark, Greenland and the United States will continue with the aim of ensuring that Russia and China never gain a foothold – economically or militarily – in Greenland.”

After weeks of rhetoric that risked the deepest break in transatlantic relations in decades, US President Trump on Wednesday abruptly dropped threats to impose tariffs as leverage to take over Greenland and said a deal to end the dispute was in sight.
