The salary of judges of the Constitutional Court will also be increased

The government intends to increase the salary of judges of the Constitutional Court. draft laws are included in the agenda of tomorrow’s session.

The Ministry of Justice proposes that a high court judge receive a 20 percent bonus for seniority in the second year of service, 35 percent in the third year, and 10 percent more each year starting from the fourth year.

In other words, if, for example, the President of the CC Arman Dilanyan took office in 2020 with a salary of 1.3 million drams, then 6 years after the start of his tenure, i.e. this year, the salary will increase by 65 percent and will amount to at least 2.2 million drams. In the following years, it will increase by another 10 percent. If the judge took office later, for example in 2024, his salary will increase by 20 percent this year and 35 percent the next.

According to the justification of the government, about 46.8 million drams, about 123 thousand dollars, will be spent from this year’s budget to increase the salaries of the seven judges of the CC, the president and the vice president. The Ministry of Justice justified such an increase in salary “with the aim of ensuring the full independence of the body implementing constitutional justice, reducing external influences on judges and ensuring the institutional stability of the Constitutional Court”.
